A legal AI platform answers two questions the moment you switch it on: where does my data live, and who is allowed to see it? Most can't answer either without pointing at someone else's cloud. This release answers both ourselves.

Open model by default. The bench ships on an open-weight model out of the box, and runs entirely on your own local models (Ollama, LM Studio) the moment you flip the tiers. Sovereign by default, not as a paid upgrade. Support and compatibility concentrate on models and vendors that share the open posture — your matters won't be quietly routed through a closed one.

Storage that's actually yours. A real persistence layer behind one seam — SQLite on a laptop, Postgres for a firm — with row-level security, default-deny. A lawyer sees a row because a rule grants access, never because nobody remembered to hide it. Enforced at the database and the app: defense in depth.

Open standards all the way down. Files and artifacts live wherever you point them — plain disk, WebDAV, an OCI container registry, Supabase. Open protocols, your infrastructure, no proprietary object-store lock-in. Move a firm's documents and you need nobody's permission.

Law isn't only text — and now intake isn't either. Drop in a PDF, a Word file, a photo, a scan. The embedded text layer is treated as ground truth — a clause is never silently paraphrased — and a vision model reconciles the rest: scans, tables, stamps, signatures, figures, image-only pages. Originals are retained.

Images go in and come out. Retained images are embedded inline in the documents the platform generates — a pure-Go PDF engine, no native dependencies, runs on a Raspberry Pi. Sometimes the exhibit is the point; it stays in the file.

A breaker, because law is a regulated profession. There's a protective mechanism in the source. A vendor that behaves in a manner inconsistent with the open sharing of knowledge and information — the kind that can revoke access, geofence, or pull a service out from under you without warning — gets placed behind it, and the platform refuses to couple to them silently. For tooling a regulated profession leans on, software that can be switched off without notice isn't an inconvenience; it's a liability with a client on the other end. The breaker is undocumented on purpose. If you're technical enough to find it in the code and disarm it, you're technical enough to have motivated that vendor's reach in the first place — and presumed able to adapt in the moment if the worst comes round again. The door is there. It just isn't signposted.

A surface that meets you where you sit. Same platform, reshaped to the person in the chair: a partner opens to a firm-wide review queue, an associate to their own desk, an occasional user to three plain doors. The result leads; the machinery folds away.

The short version: an open model by default, your data on your own storage over open standards, locked down with row-level security, reading documents however they arrive and placing the images back into what it produces — guarded by a breaker that keeps a regulated profession off vendors who'd pull the rug — behind an interface that opens at your altitude. Open. Free. Secure. Private. Built that way on purpose.

BigLaw is Now Cheaper: the whole platform — orchestrator, DyTopo engine, 131 agents, billing, playbooks, redlining, all of it — is one Go binary that runs on a 4 GB Raspberry Pi. The hardware floor for a firm's back office is now less than a billable hour.

BigLaw is Now Faster: same routes, same data, head-to-head with the old TypeScript — 6.9× on the heavy endpoint. 125 → 864 requests/sec. 389 ms → 53 ms. And Go was handicapped in a VM while Node ran bare metal.

BigLaw is Now Safer: the conflict-of-interest graph moved behind a Unix socket — off the network entirely. Then every security fix from the old codebase was audited line-by-line and ported: prompt-injection scrubbing, SSRF lockdown, tamper-evident audit logs, signed webhooks. Parity — with tests to prove it.

BigLaw is Now Smarter: one console became a nine-room workbench — matters, library, clients, billing, budgets & deadlines, a watchtower for docket and regulatory alerts, a drafting studio, analytics, admin.

BigLaw is Now Sharper: drop in a counterparty draft and your playbook sweeps it — client > matter > personal > firm. Every clause graded against your position, deviations redlined with replacement text, and the protections that should be there but aren't flagged with language to paste in. Accept, dismiss, export.

BigLaw is Now More Private: audit split into a personal feed and a partner-only firm view. And the whole bench runs on your own local models — Ollama, LM Studio — on command. Flip the tiers to local and not one token leaves the building.

BigLaw Now Learns: TopoFlow rides on top of DyTopo. The fast loop wires the agents for a matter; the slow loop — AgensFlow, a contextual bandit — learns across matters which formations actually pay off. No training runs, no fine-tuning bill. Pure bandit math, 41 tests under the race detector.

Oh, and by the way, one more thing:

Meet Remy. The client-advocate agent from the CNTXT hackathon, now wired into BigLaw. Her brief rides along with the matter, and at every human-review gate she asks the one question nobody else does: is this actually what the client said they wanted? Toggle her on or off — firm-wide or per lawyer.

The short version: a whole firm's tooling, on hardware cheaper than a billable hour — or entirely on your own models — faster than before, hardened fix-for-fix, reviewing contracts against your own playbook, learning as it goes, with the client's voice in the room.

Most legal AI asks you to trust a promise: "we won't look at your client data."
